ieOUT is proud to share the outcomes of our first LGBT@Work International Gay and Lesbian Business Forum.

We believe that the event was a great success. The sessions, lunch and cocktail enabled all of us to learn about the latest developments and thoughts on LGBT policies, marketing and networking strategies. ??We have attached a summary of the presentation remarks and main conclusions. It was fascinating and encouraging to see how local corporate and network initiatives have reached a level of professionalism in Europe and the US that enables inter-corporate collaboration and full commitment at the executive level. Nevertheless, this is just the beginning of a long process. Even in companies with the most progressive LGBT-friendly policies in place, the number of people that feel comfortable being out in the workplace is limited. The fact that many people join internal networks feeling pressured to remain closeted to their colleagues shows that we are still far away from achieving full emancipation in the workplace.

In order to keep the momentum from the event, we invite you to continue the discussion on this blog. We also want to restate our interest in developing further initiatives, activities and interesting speakers in the near future. Please submit your ideas, suggestions, etc.

Finally, we hope we can count on you in our efforts to expand our network. Please invite your friends to the next ieOUT & Friends Social Event in Thursday September 6 (21.30-23.00) at tapas bar Ardosa, Calle Colon, Madrid.

Looking forward to seeing you after the summer!
