10th Annual ReachingOut LGBT MBA conference
San Francisco, Oct 11-14, 200

ieOUT was proud was to represent IE Business School at the 10th annual Reaching Out MBA conference that took place this October in San Franciso.

Reaching Out provides a glowing example of how the LGBT MBA community and its corporate sponsors are making a difference in the lives of hundreds of LGBT professionals. Over 700 students and professional attendees from the United States, Canada, Asia, Latin America, and Europe gathered in the Westin St Francis Hotel to:
• Connect the LGBT global business community by uniting students and professionals from around the world in a dynamic and innovative setting.
• Build leadership within the LGBT global business community by fostering the training and mentorship vital to reaching the upper echelons of business.
• Achieve new heights by equipping our LGBT leaders with the tools to overcome any barriers to personal and professional success.

This year professionally-organized conference was organized by 7 LGBT students of the Haas School of Business at UC Berkely and Stanford Graduate School of Business. With the help of many others they put together:

• Several impressive keynotes comprised of "A-list" business and community leaders including an emotional speech by LGBT cable network Logo’s Lisa Sherman.
• 12 different Career Panels on Consulting, Finance, Media, Technology, etc.
• a Recruiting/Career Expo with over 70 multinationals including Goldman Sachs, Google, McKinsey, Johnson&Johnson.
• 13 Panels and Workshops on LGBT issues and opportunities
• A LGBT Business Case Study and Case Writing Competition
• 9 breakfasts, lunches, dinners and cocktail receptions including a spectacular performance by comedian Margaret Cho and actor Darryl Stephens (Boy Culture)

A special LGBT Student Leaders Roundtable hosted by IE Guest Professor Steven Salbu brought together representatives of over 30 LGBT MBA groups to share best-practices and establish connections for future collaborations.

Next: Europe…..
An International Students Roundtable hosted by BCG explored opportunities to bring the success of ReachingOut to Europe. London Business School (LBS) received the support of the Reaching Out Board of Directors to organize an event this coming year in London. LBS has invited ieOUT to explore opportunities to collaborate on this event. We will certainly keep you posted, however, feel free to contact us if you are interested in helping with future ieOUT events (ieOUT@ie.edu).
